CHANDIGARH: PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu would be meeting Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today at 3 PM in Punjab Bhawan.
Sidhu has given this information through a tweet and said that CM Punjab has invited him for talks and he will reciprocate it. Chief Minister had called Sidhu yesterday for a meeting after stand off on the issue of certain appointments in the state government.
The tweet reads, "Chief Minister has invited me for talks … will reciprocate by reaching Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh at 3:00 PM today, he is welcome for any discussions !"
Navjot Sidhu had issued a video message yesterday strongly objecting to appointments of DGP Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota and Advocate General APS Deol. Sahota was head of SIT which named two youth of Bargari main accused in sacrilege case and allegedly gave clean chit to dera followers. They were later found innocent. Sahota has denied that he has given clean chit to dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim but silent on Bargari issue.
Deol was advocate of former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini who got blanket bail from high court. Deol also appeared for police officers involved in Bargari firing cse.
Channi has made it clear that he has no personal ego and he can remove any officer which is not liked by party. He said party is supreme and government has to follow party's ideology.
It would be interesting to see if Channi bows to Sidhu's demands or Sidhu takes his final decision to quit party.
